Aljaž Cvirn is a Slovenian classical guitarist based in Switzerland, performing internationally as a soloist and chamber musician. His repertoire ranges from the Baroque and Classical eras to music of the twenty-first century. Chamber music is central to his artistic work, with partners including violinists Sebastian Bohren and Tanja Sonc, cellist Isabel Gehweiler and guitarist Jure Cerkovnik, with whom he performs as Duo Aratik.

His concert engagements across Europe include the Boswiler Meisterkonzerte at Künstlerhaus Boswil, Appenzeller Klangforum, Jahreszeitenkonzerte, Lucerne Guitar Festival and Postojna Guitar Week. He has also appeared in concerts presented by the Stradivari Stiftung and Förderverein Gitarre Zug, and at venues including the Slovenian Philharmonic, the Slovene National Theatre Maribor and the Orchesterhaus in Lucerne.

His discography includes Somnia (Baros Records, 2026), Duo Aratik’s debut album, and Duality (Solo Musica, 2023), hailed by AUDIO magazine as “a marvel”. Earlier recordings include a contribution to violinist Tanja Sonc’s 2020 album and Sonatas for Violoncello and Guitar with cellist Isabel Gehweiler (2018). His recordings have been broadcast by Slovenian national radio, SRF, Bremen Zwei, BR-KLASSIK and Ö1.

Cvirn studied with Tomaž Raiterič at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, Anders Miolin at Zurich University of the Arts and Paul Galbraith at the Music Academy Basel. Alongside his performing career, he teaches guitar at Kantonsschule Uster and regularly gives masterclasses at Postojna Guitar Week. He has been a D’Addario artist since 2023.
